ADAS and Windshield Calibration

Can windshield replacement and ADAS calibration be completed through mobile service?

Mobile work is possible only when the site, adhesive, equipment and manufacturer procedure can all be satisfied.

The short answer

They can be, when the installation site and calibration process satisfy all product and vehicle requirements. The ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS standard applies to both in-shop and mobile installations and requires environmental conditions compatible with the adhesive manufacturer's current instructions.

A static calibration may require a controlled, level work area with specified lighting, space, measurements and targets; a dynamic calibration requires the manufacturer's prescribed road conditions. If those conditions are unavailable, part of the work may need to be completed at a shop or another qualified facility. Phoenix heat is not a reason to skip adhesive waiting time. AGSC notes that high heat combined with low humidity can extend minimum drive-away time for some urethanes, and direct sun can create additional installation challenges. The shop should state the vehicle's release time and calibration plan before work begins. Under the ANSI standard, dynamic calibration starts only after minimum drive-away time has elapsed.
