What should happen during a mobile windshield replacement appointment?

A complete mobile appointment includes vehicle and part verification, protected removal, installation, cleanup, safety instructions and any required calibration plan.

The short answer

The technician should first verify the vehicle, VIN, proposed part and installed features before removing the old windshield. The work area and vehicle interior should be protected, and the replacement glass should be checked for damage, correct markings, brackets, sensor areas and compatibility. During removal and preparation, the technician follows the retention-system manufacturer's current instructions, addresses the existing mounting surface appropriately and avoids contaminating the bonding area.

After the windshield is set, the technician should reinstall required components, clean the work area and inspect the completed installation. The customer should receive the calculated minimum drive-away time and any use limitations. If windshield replacement may affect ADAS, the vehicle-specific calibration requirement and method should be determined, completed when in scope and documented. Arizona requires an itemized description of ADAS work and written disclosure when calibration fails or is not performed. Before signing, compare the completed work with the authorization and invoice, ask about the written warranty, and confirm whom to contact about a leak, wind noise, molding concern or warning message.
