The short answer
Used glass is not automatically acceptable or automatically prohibited under AGRSS. The AGRSS Standards Committee says previously installed stationary automotive glass may be used only when the part is suitable for safe installation and free of obvious structural or visually objectionable defects; it can be installed with a retention system compatible with the original design; and the adhesive manufacturer's instructions permit its use in that application.
Inspection should look for delamination, edge chips, cracks, distortion in the critical viewing area, damaged brackets, coatings, embedded features and prior adhesive or removal damage. Correct curvature, part number, DOT marking, VIN application and compatibility with cameras, sensors, head-up displays, antennas or heating elements still matter. Arizona also requires replacement glazing to be safety glass meeting applicable federal standards. Because a used part's history and edge condition may be difficult to establish, ask why it is recommended and request the manufacturer, part number, condition findings, feature match and warranty terms in writing.
