The short answer
Professional repair starts with evaluation, not resin. ROLAGS directs the technician to inspect the damage from both inside and outside the windshield and determine whether it satisfies the standard's repair criteria. Moisture, dirt, loose glass and other contamination are removed. If the glass is outside the repair system's recommended temperature range, it is warmed or cooled appropriately before work continues.
The technician then accesses the break as needed, protects the resin from premature curing, removes air by vacuum or displacement, and fills the void with repair resin formulated for laminated glass. The pit is filled, the resin is cured and the exterior is finished flush with the surrounding surface. Quality control is part of the process: the technician examines the repair from the driver's position for air pockets, contamination, significant light scatter or other optical problems and confirms the finished area will not interfere with the windshield wipers.
