Arizona Insurance and Glass Claims

Will filing an auto-glass claim raise my Arizona insurance premium?

No glass shop can promise that a claim will never affect pricing, discounts, eligibility or loss history.

The short answer

No glass shop can promise that a claim will never affect insurance cost or underwriting. A.R.S. 20-263 restricts an insurer from increasing a motor-vehicle premium as a result of an accident the insured did not cause or significantly contribute to, and an insurer that increases a premium because of accident involvement must state the reason.

That protection should not be rewritten as a blanket rule that every glass claim can have no effect on every future rate, discount, eligibility decision or loss-history report. Arizona DIFI explains that insurers use prior-loss information, including Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange, or C.L.U.E., reports, when evaluating applicants and policies. Before filing, ask your insurer how it classifies the event and whether the inquiry itself or a paid claim will be reported. The carrier, not the repair facility, is the authoritative source for your policy and rating treatment.
