Arizona Insurance and Glass Claims

What information should I gather before starting a windshield claim?

Accurate vehicle, damage and policy details help the shop order the right glass and help the insurer evaluate the actual loss.

The short answer

Have the policyholder's name, insurer, policy number, date and location of loss, a truthful description of what happened, and clear photos of the damage ready. For the vehicle, provide the year, make, model, VIN, license plate and current location. Photograph the full windshield, the close-up impact point, the etched glass markings and the camera or mirror area when possible.

Also note features such as a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, lane assistance, heated glass, acoustic glass or an antenna. These details can change the glass part and calibration plan. Ask the insurer to state the claim number, verified deductible, covered scope and any inspection or authorization requirement. Ask the shop for an itemized estimate before work begins. Never guess at the loss date or sign a claim or work authorization you have not read. Arizona law requires owner authorization and prohibits false dates, false approvals and unsupported promises of no customer cost.
