Windshield Replacement and Glass Selection

How is the correct replacement windshield chosen for my vehicle?

Accurate glass selection uses the VIN plus confirmation of every camera, sensor, display, heating, acoustic and mounting feature.

The short answer

Year, make and model may not be enough. The same vehicle can have several windshield part numbers based on production date, body style, trim and factory options. A proper parts check should begin with the VIN and then confirm the equipment physically present on the vehicle.

Relevant differences may include a forward-camera bracket, rain or light sensor, head-up-display interlayer, acoustic laminate, solar or infrared coating, heated wiper area, full heating grid, antenna, mirror mount, humidity sensor, shade band and special moldings. ROLAGS calls these value-added features and warns against repair where a feature could be harmed. AGRSS similarly requires replacement glass compatible with affected ADAS. A windshield that fits the opening can still be the wrong specification. Before ordering, mention any dashboard projection, lane-support camera, automatic wipers, heated glass or unusual tint, and provide photos of the mirror area and etched glass markings when possible.
