Arizona Insurance and Glass Claims

Does Arizona insurance have to pay for OEM glass and ADAS calibration?

Arizona's full-glass statute does not create a universal entitlement to OEM glass or separately guarantee calibration payment.

The short answer

Not in every claim. Arizona's no-deductible glass statute defines covered safety equipment, but it does not establish a universal right to original-equipment glass or separately guarantee payment for camera recalibration. Coverage depends on the policy, endorsements, insurer authorization, vehicle specifications and cause of loss.

Arizona's ADAS law addresses how the work must be disclosed and performed: a shop cannot say replacement or recalibration is fully covered unless the policy actually covers it, and any recalibration performed must meet or exceed the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. Some manufacturers also publish vehicle-specific requirements. Honda, for example, tells owners of certain camera-equipped models to use a genuine replacement windshield and recalibrate the camera after replacement. Ask for a written estimate that separately identifies the glass type, moldings or sensors, calibration, deductible, insurer allowance and any possible customer balance before authorizing work.
